The best new smartphones that are out there now!

With 2013 being over and people are already waiting the announcement of the next generation of devices it would be wise to take a look at the best new smartphones that you can get on the market. This list will feature the best new smartphones that have been recently released and, for the sake of keeping it new, the infamous Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5 won’t be featured.  If somebody hears the words “best new smartphones” they immediately think of the aforementioned pair and, even though they are high-end devices, seeing them on every web site and, lets be frank here, everywhere is getting somewhat tiresome.

I’ve compiled a list of the best new devices that you can get that aren’t made by Samsung or Apple. You might actually be surprised at the range of options that are out there. Some even have hardware and software specs that rival the previously mentioned duo. Let’s take a look, shall we?

1. HTC One Max, one of the best new smartphones

HTC released their flagship One and it immediately had a huge success. Later the Taiwanese company released the One Max, you can think of it as the HTC One on steroids, and it seems like it was solely made to rival the Galaxy Note series.

2. Google LG Nexus 5

The Nexus 5 is the next smartphone in Google’s line. This time they chose LG to make the hardware for the device while they provided the software. It’s more of a budget phone, it costs $349 in the Play Store and $449 without a contract, but it still can deliver a good punch, just take a look at the specs.

3. LG G2

Even though LG made the Nexus 5 this didn’t stop them to make their own flagship device. The G2 is also leading in specs in our best new smartphones list just like the One Max. One thing different about this device is that it has the volume rocker positioned on the back of the phone rather than the side. Jamie Korman, a spokesman for LG stated: “What’s unique is the fact that the buttons have been placed on that back after we did some ergonomic and biometric studies”.

4. Nokia Lumia 1020

This is the only phone on our best new smartphones list that doesn’t run on Android, instead it comes with Windows Phone 8. The most noticeable feature of this device is the whopping 41MP camera strapped on the back. Another interesting thing is that Nokia has developed a wireless charging technology that is available for almost all of their devices, all you need to buy is the kit that comes with the dock and a special cover. It works via magnetic magic voodoo and nobody would’ve thought that watching a phone charge can become a show. They really outdid themselves in terms of innovation.

5. Motorola Droid Maxx

If LG brings something new in terms of ergonomics and the Lumia 1020 in terms of camera and wireless charging magic the Droid Maxx comes with a seemingly everlasting battery. It’s a fact that, nowadays, smartphones are highly dependent on battery life and finding a one that can last you through a full day of heavy usage without charging it seems to be a challenge. But not anymore, the Droid Maxx comes with a huge battery life that will make you forget the need to bring a charger. It will last you 10 hours of continuous web surfing with the Wi-Fi on and screen at full brightness. And even though it only cots $299 the Droid has a lot more to offer than endurance.

6. Sony Xperia Z1

The Xperia ZX1 is one of the best new smartphones you can get

The Sony Xperia Z1 is the latest release in the US, it came out on the 13th of January and is available exclusively for T-Mobile. The guys at Sony put in a tremendous amount of effort in the Xperia Z to make it rival the two giants in the smartphone market: Samsung and Apple, and the result payed off. Just like Samsung and HTC, Sony decided to create a variety of phones based off the Xperia Z and that’s how the Z1 came to be.

That’s it with the best new smartphones. If you try to look beyond the “mainstream” smartphones you can find a whole range of devices that might suit you better, all you have to do now is choose. I’m afraid that’s about it for this generation of devices, everybody is now waiting for the new announcements at MWC 2014 this month.
